Whirlwind

So it’s been a long time between posts. It’s also been like a whirlwind of activity in my life.

Sharron and I traveled to Seattle on the 21st of December for a Christmas vacation. We left at 5pm Friday and arrived at 9am Friday. Weird. Christmas vacation went pretty well for us, even though it too was completely and utterly busy. You see, before Christmas, we got engaged. :-) After Christmas, on December 28, we got married! I know, crazy huh? It really has been wonderful so far (except for the being apart, but I’ll get to that). It is very surreal to me that we only met about a year ago. I mean, I really never though I’d find someone to marry, let alone fall in love with. :-) Here is a picture of what everybody is dying to see. PICTURE

Also during vacation, Sharron and I decided to take an inventory of all of the toys that I still have at my parents house, complete with pictures. I have now been selling anything that I don’t really want anymore on Ebay. Pretty fun really. I’m sure that I won’t get much more (total) that I originally paid for them, but I didn’t buy a lot of them for financial gain, I bought them because I liked them. Since I no longer have an interest in them, it makes sense to get rid of them. Sold 5/6 Ebay auctions so far.

So according to the Government of Japan, you are only allowed 1 90-day tourist visa per year. Since Sharron had already been here twice in the previous 365 days, they weren’t going to let her in to the country again. The military had us do a ton of paperwork to get her sponsored by Yokota Air Base, which would get her access to Japan again under the Status of Forces Agreement. The problem with this is that each office that needs to process the paperwork has been extremely slow. It would seem that there is only one person in each of these offices with the proper authority to process the paperwork. I usually have nothing but praise for the Air Force, but this was a bit rediculous. On top of that, in the final office that we had to go through, the 1 person who could process us was on leave. Talk about frustrating.

On Monday of this week, we finally got the ok to fly her over here. The bonus is that we get to use a military flight to get her here. Not quite free, but a lot cheaper than a commercial flight. A LOT cheaper. The best part of all this is that I finally get to see my WIFE after 3+ weeks apart! This is not very normal for newlyweds and it has been making Sharron and I very depressed. All that will end in less than 48 hours though. :-)

Since I got back to Japan, I have been working myself silly during the week at work. It has been crazier than it has ever been before. A couple weekends have made it tolerable as Tom is finally back from his deployment and able to play games again. We have been playing Guild Wars. It’s pretty interesting so far, but I’m not sure that it’s quite what I’m looking for. I really have enjoyed City of Heroes, but I just haven’t been albe to find anybody to play with since I’ve been over here. I guess I’m about done with the game which is sad as I’ve had lots of fun with it. I’ve also been considering trying World of Warcraft. With that many players, there should be someone to play with all the time. :-)

So I guess that doesn’t seem like a lot, but on my end, it feels like I’ve done enough stuff to fill up an entire year, instead of just 1 month.
