It never rains but it pours

Just when Sharron and I think that everything is going well for us, life throws us another curveball.  Yesterday morning the vice wing commander (read: big muckity muck) came in to my office and told me that starting in September I’d be deploying to Kuwait for 122 days.  Not only that, but I won’t even be doing communications but I’ll be back to doing executive officer work like I did for most of the last year!  :-\

The real kicker is that they want me there in early September, mere days after our scheduled wedding reception.  I told the vice commander this and he said it’d be ok for me to be late to Kuwait to go to my reception.  Thank goodness for small favors.

  • So are ya’ll getting married in Japan or the States? Also, aren’t you supposed to be at SOS now?

  • Man, that’s a bummer.

Does this change your stay in Japan?

  • I’ll see if I help answer questions.

We were married on 28 Dec 05 in Tacoma, WA. The reception is intended to be the big family & friends gathering and meeting of folks. Yes, Patrick is on SOS now. I just hooked up the internet in the room, so he might be able to post more.

And, no this doesn’t change Patrick’s stay in Japan. It might change mine as I’m not sure if I’m up for 4+ months in Japan by myself. We’ll just have to see? :-)

  • Sharron, do you have Pat’s cell phone #? Or Room phone #? He was gonna come eat dinner at the house with us while he was here.

Pat, if you read this, give me a hollar. 334-201-6111. You get to see the new house.

  • Hey, we’re in bldg 681 room 2246 give us a ring. I’m usually in the room after 1800 or 1900. Thanks!

  • I’m really sorry to hear that, Pat. You deserve a real break and a life with your wife, not to get sent back to the middle east. You keep yourself safe or you’ll have a lot of people to answer to.

I am glad to hear that things have been going well otherwise. Sounds like your school must be good for you. And congrats on the reception. :-)

  • You’ll just have to have an even awesomer party to make up for that.

  • Aw, lame. :\

Sharron, I’m not an expert by any means on living in Japan or how the Air Force works, but I’m pretty much an expert now at being without a husband for extended periods of time. If you need to vent, or anything, let me know, ‘kay? :)
