My replacement is here! The four of us in my office that are leaving all met our replacements 2 nights ago. They didn’t get in until 11 PM, so it was a late night. I’ve spent the last two days going over all of my duties with the new guy, who goes by Scooby, to try and get him up to speed. After you’ve done a job for awhile, it hard to remember what all you do when you tell people, and apparently, I do a lot. :-)
What’s really amazing to me is that when I took him around to meet everybody I got several people that told him that he had “big shoes to fill.” I was pretty impressed that I was this highly thought of. Today at lunch I introduced him to the wing commander who again said he has “big shoes to fill.” Wow!
Tonight will be the last night that I sleep here. I think I have to stay up all night tomorrow night before getting on a place Sunday morning. Yay!
Heard a good quote today, “The future is repaired by looking to the future, not towards reconciling with the past.”
Hooray! You’re on your way! :)
Sig is in Oklahoma now, having to go through all the tedious briefings before he’s allowed to come home this coming week. He’s not happy with the situation, but I keep telling him it’s just a few more days. I’m also a bit impatient, but a week seems like nothing now. :)
I think I know Scooby from my own deployment 4 years ago, unless there is another comm captain named Scooby floating around out there. Small world.
