When I got back to work after our China trip, I had an email from the housing office with an offer for a house on base. We’d applied for one in December and had about given up on the possibility of getting one. It’s a two story town house located in the north central part of the base. It’s really close to everything so that’s a nice bonus. It’s in a building with 3 other units, and since we’re on the end we have a nicer yard than everybody else. Pretty cool. It’s only 2 bedrooms compared to the 3 we have now, but Sharron and I think we can make everything fit.
The plan was to get orders on Monday, have the movers come today and then move in to the house on Friday. Monday morning though I had another email from the base housing office telling me that we’d been delayed. Apparantly the contractor that does all the painting and repair work has quit a few weeks ahead of their contract termination and is not going to work on our house. A new contract is beginning May 1, but since the old contractor hasn’t been doing any repairs, they have a back log of houses to work on. The housing office isn’t sure where our house falls in that list, so our move in window is now between 15 and 25 May. Almost a month after we were supposed to be in. Grrr!
I’m sure I’ll post more as I know more.
