Sharron and I spent the weekend mostly working around the house. Since we’ve moving on Friday(!) we figured we should try and get some of the cleaning done ahead of time. We tackled the big things like the shower room and the window seals. The shower room was pretty easy, but the window seals were a little harder. Japan has a large amount of pollution in the air. When it rains, all of this soot falls to the ground with it. It tends to settle into the window seals and leaves a black residue behind. It doesn’t require a lot of scrubbing, but it’s hard to get it out of all the little cracks. We also cleaned off the balcony, which was suffering from the same problem. That was a little easier since there were no small cracks, but you have to get on your hands and knees and scrub. Finally, we worked in the yard and did the normal lawn mowing, but also did some moving preparation. We took down the lantern and also pulled up all of the lantern stones and replaced them with sod. We also cleaned off the patio and washed the outside of the rear windows.
Phew! All we really need to do before the movers come is to de-clutter a little and to take down all of the artwork. After that we should be set!
Is it funny that Survivor is my favorite show right now? This season has been great! Go Yau Man go!
