Thoughts

I’ve had lots of thoughts about what to post online lately. I had been trying to post every day, or at least every other day, but then I got really bored with the stuff I would post about and stopped posting. Then of course, I started playing the game of, “What should I post?” Most of the ideas I came up with needed pictures to go along with the story, so then, I didn’t post anything. Now it’s been about a month since I posted my last real post and it’s time to break the silence.

The big event that coming up is our trip to the States. Sharron and I are leaving on the 1st and are headed to Austin, TX for the hiring conference. Not sure how many interviews I will have, but 10 sounds right to me. After the hiring conference, we’ll head to Montgomery to await any follow-up interviews. Everyone keeps telling me that I’ll do fine, but I’m still pretty nervous. Not only do I need to convince these companies to hire me, but I have to find a company that I like and in a location that both Sharron and I like. No pressure.

Since I’m getting ready to separate from the Air Force, I decided that it was time to axe the crew cut. It’s been close to 2 months now since I had my last hair cut. Of course, I’m still in that “How do I comb this?” stage and since my hair is still short in certain areas, that makes it even more difficult. Sharron came up with a good style, but it involves the use of a lot of mousse and a hair dryer. It’s VERY strange since I’m used to using the towel to style my hair.

Halloween is coming up and we decided to do some decorating. With the pending separation, we’ve been really frugal, so we tried to come up with some creative ideas. Sharron found a great idea in a Halloween magazine where you create silhouettes for the windows. When placed in a window with light behind them, they looked pretty cool in the magazine. We’d been looking for black construction paper to use, but the base exchange has been out forever. So, we bought orange. Sharron did the drawing and we both did the cutting and when we put them up in the window, they looked ok. They needed to be black. We brainstormed a few ideas such as crayons and sharpies, but ended up using acrylic paint to change the orange to black. After they dried we put them back up in the window. Wow! What a difference that made. They are spectacular! We put up 2 witches with a cauldron, 3 bats, 1 cat, 2 ghosts and 1 skull. Total cost: About $5 including paint. :-)

Not sure if I ever posted this, but we’d been told by our neighbors that the previous residents of our house never took down their Halloween decorations before putting up their Christmas decorations last year. The community center here on base just recently put out their Christmas decorations, and they look great along side the remaining Halloween decorations. This lead me to create this, Merry Christma-ween!

I’m posting all of this at 4:30 AM. I arrived at work this morning at 3:30 to set up a video teleconference for the wing commander. Not going to miss this in the civilian world. Not even one tiny bit.
