Yes!

Last weekend, Thursday November 1st more specifically, I arrived in Austin, TX to begin the Cameron-Brooks career conference.  Beginning Friday morning, I received a packet with 13 different companies information inside.  My task was to read through them to get a feel about them and start taking notes.  Saturday/Sunday was spent in company briefings specific to each briefing that lasted 30 minutes.  LOTS of information in a SHORT time.  Lots of references to fire hoses being stuffed down throats, etc.  Monday and Tuesday were spent with company recruiters interviewing for various positions.  I had 8 interviews Monday, and 6 Tuesday.  One of the companies I met with on Monday wanted to see me again Tuesday, hence the 14 interviews, 13 companies.  The idea was that we wanted to get a Yes from the companies.  The yes meaning that they wanted to persue a follow-up interview with me.  I could also earn a Maybe, where if the candidates they said yes to turn them down, they move on to me.  I received 4 Yes’s, 3 Maybe’s and 6 No’s.  Not bad.  My number 1 said yes to me, so that was particularly amazing.  In fact, Sharron and I are currently in Hartfort, Connecticut for a follow-up interview with them.  It starts tomorrow evening with dinner and then will transition to 3 formal interviews on Monday, followed by a tour of their facility.  I’m not sure how much I want to mention about who they are right now, but if you look at the big companies in Hartford, CT, you should at least be able to figure out what industry they’re in.  :-)

  • Hi Pat, I just teamed up with Cameron Brooks and am attending the conference in April. I just googled Cameron Brooks and stumbled upon your site and was wanting to know if you would mind answering a couple questions I had since I see you have just recently gone through the process.
