Drinking the Blue Kool Aid while driving a Kart of the Mario variety

Wow, probably longest journal title ever for me.

Going out of town this weekend. After an enjoyable visit with Sharron’s Dad last week, I’m headed to Montgomery tomorrow (Sharron is already there) to visit her Mom and attend one of her concerts (She plays Oboe for the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra). The concert is movie music, so it should definitely be fun!

Something I’ve been wanting to post about was something funny that happened to me at work. We’ve hired a few new people for my direct mail project and I’ve been helping to get them up to speed. Whilst talking to one of them, we were discussing one of Travelers’ new insurance pricing products which I’m a big fan of. Riffing off of my enthusiasm, my friend Chris said, “So, drank the Blue Kool Aid huh?” Too funny!

Because of all the home improvement work that Sharron and I have been doing over the last 5 months, I haven’t had any time to really sit down and play my Wii games. Last weekend I was able to start playing a little of Super Paper Mario. It feels like a Mario game, but it doesn’t at the same time. It’s fun though! I still haven’t even tried Zelda, let alone buy Super Mario Galaxy! The good news is that my parents sent me Mario Kart Wii for my birthday. I got it last night when I got home and after giving Parker a bath, I tried it out. It’s really cool (fun, great, etc)!

I’ve never been much of a lover of the race part of the game. Instead, I used to love to just spend hours with my friends in college playing the battle mode. Seriously, we played that damn game (Mario Kart 64) for hours! However, I tried out several of the races last night and really had a good time with them. I didn’t read the manual (Only Urn religiously does that) but I was still able to intuitively figure out the controls. Pretty cool. The little steering wheel attachment is pretty fun too.

The most fun thing about it is it’s online capability. It’s always more fun to race against people than it is to race against the computer. Mario Kart Wii let me do that last night and it was oh so EASY! I tried a couple of races and raced against something like 10 or 11 people. Really fun. I didn’t win and my highest placing was only 4th, but for my first night racing, that’s not bad. I tried one online battle and somehow managed to win that. Good old Wario is still my character of choice and I guess he’s still bad ass. Just like me. ;-)
